D: Drawing

This week, I would like to share this adorable cozy scene by our Collective member Char Call.

Char joined the Happy Creators Collective less than a year ago with no drawing experience.

She has since created her cute character Penny 🍍 (I remember her excited post with "My first original drawing"), and created a whole stationary collection with Penny and friends 🥰.

This week I was contemplating... when did I start making progress with drawing kawaii?

What gave me the push I needed?

It was a podcast with Tim Ferris, called "The Art and Science of Learning Anything Faster" that was the catalyst for me.

It gave the BELIEF that drawing awesome kawaii art is possible for me.

And it game me a method to STRUCTURE my learning process, so that I wasn't just doing random tutorials from the internet 😜.

This podcast is the resource I would like to share with you this week. I hope you will find it informative and inspiring too.

🔗 The Art and Science of Learning Anything Faster​

A: Affirmation

My 7-year-old daughter just got a new sketchbook.

She opened it unceremoniously (from the opposite end 😉) and drew a blue cat.

Caption: Blueberry 🫐

Then she turned the page and drew a red cat.

Caption: Strawberry 🍓

Then she said: "Ok, these are my characters for today. Tomorrow I will draw a kiwi capybara".

And she did!

It was EASY for her to start drawing again the next day, because she already had her next project in her mind.

Maybe that's the key to prolific creative process... to have your next project in mind before finishing the current one.

I found this to be true for other activities too.

When leaving the garden, I decide: "Next time, I will add straw to these pots".

When leaving friends' house: "How about we meet again for New Years Eve?"

Having that next idea figured out brings PEACE to the mind, and makes it easy to start again.

And we know that starting the HARDEST part of any project 😉.
