D: Drawing

Last Christmas, I was sooo tired by the end of the year, that I didn't have the energy to make custom gifts with my art for family and friends 😅.

But this year is different!

This year, I am starting early 😄.

I've already created the fabrics (to sew some kitchen towels) and dreamed up a few sweet greeting card designs 🍬.

I drew these 4 simple pastel candy designs in Procreate, and my friend & collaborator Cyndi Carlson helped me transform them into a full gift collection. Like this! 👇

R: Resource

As I was drawing these cute Christmas candies, I thought... "These drawings are ideal for learning Procreate!"

They are simple and cute. Yet, they still require foundational knowledge of Procreate. Layer manipulations, brushes, colors... the essentials!

So I thought, "What if I do a LIVE class and share the process with you?!!"

That felt like a fun idea!

A: Affirmation

This week, I re-affirmed one of my core beliefs 😉.

I made an appointment to upgrade our car radio.

As I walked into the audio shop that smelled like rubber, with rows and rows of speakers and cool-looking gadgets, the salesman presented me with the options:

• The budget model
• The budget model, but from a fancy brand
• High-end model with a slick interface, faster response time, and customization options

I went with the basic "budget" model, thinking "I don't need those fancy options"...

And I regretted this decision the moment I drove away.

I will be looking at this radio every day for years.

Was the budget model worth the savings?

It limits my upgrade options, and it lags.

And here is the kicker.... the difference between the "budget" and "high-end" models was less than 200 bucks.

I've always lived by the rule "invest in the best tech you can afford". Somehow, I forgot it this week 😆.

So here is this week's affirmation:

W: Wonder

My 10-year-old son is into "Would you rather..." questions at the moment.

He comes up with some good ones that require deep reflection! 😄

This week's question to wonder about is inspired by one of his questions:

That one definitely requires some reflection.
